IT620 - Operational Analysis Management Framework, Part 1: Operational Analysis Overview, Process, and Metrics

Description:

This training session is the first part of a two-part series* on conducting Operational Analysis of NIH IT Systems that are in steady state or mixed-lifecycle. This course will provide an introduction on what Operational Analysis is, the benefits of performing Operational Analysis, and how Operational Analysis aligns with the 10 phases of the HHS Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC). It will also provide an overview of the NIH Operational Analysis Management Framework (OAMF) and a detailed, tactical level instruction on how to perform an Operational Analysis within the guidelines set forth by the NIH OAMF.

Objectives:

After training it is desired that attendees will
  • Understand what Operational Analysis (OA) is;
  • Be able to discuss the three components of the NIH OAMF;
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities in performing an OA;
  • Know the steps in performing an OA;
  • Understand the metrics that are used to reflect IT system performance;
  • Be able to identify OA tools (checklists and templates) available to support the OA process.

Who should attend:

This training will be geared towards centrally funded Enterprise IT Systems and their Project Managers, Project Team members with performance monitoring and reporting responsibilities, Operations Managers/System Administrators, and Project Oversight Staff. However, registration is open to all NIH employees.
