Description:
The course will teach fundamentals about effectively searching the Internet. It will look at setting browser preferences and searching for information with Google. A preview of Internet Explorer 8.0 will also be offered
Objectives:
Topics to be covered include- using your Web browser
- setting basic browser preferences, including
- favorites/bookmarks (within a list and on the main window)
- cookies and history
- text size
- search engines
- how they work
- how to run basic and advanced searches
- how to narrow searches to get just the information you want
- an overview of NIH Web offerings
- a list of useful websites
