SS491 - Molecular Graphics I: Illustrations with PyMOL, Chimera, and VMD

Description:

It is easier than ever before to make outstanding images of proteins and nucleic acids to illustrate complicated interactions and subtle details that contribute to function. We will use the cross-platform, open-source tools PyMOL, Chimera, and VMD to illustrate secondary structure, hydrogen bonding, molecular surfaces, structural instability, and important active site details in a hands-on setting. In addition, we will give some tips to create eye-popping visuals for journal covers and posters.

The class will move quickly and those with some experience with similar software will have an advantage.
