Web of Science: Mining the Literature
Description:
The Web of Science comprises two related electronic resources: Science Citation Index Expanded, which contains citations to articles published in over 5,300 scientific journals and Social Sciences Citation Index, which covers the journal literature of the social sciences indexed from over 1,700 journals. Learn, in this class, how to use the Web of Science to search for articles by subject, author and journal title. You will also learn how to conduct a cited reference search to see who is citing papers in your area of research.
Objectives:
Students will:
Find references on a specific topic, by a specific author or in a specific journal
Order photocopies of articles from the NIH Library
Conduct a cited reference search

Go beyond the biomedical databases and search the multidisciplinary Science Citation Index and/or Social Sciences Index
Save time with direct links to many full-text journal articles online or order documents immediately from search results
With a quick click of your mouse, performing a cited reference search and see "who has cited who"
Access the article's references list (bibliography) and Related Articles for all records in the Web of Science
