Free visitor parking for CIT Training classes conducted in the Fernwood building will be very limited beginning Wednesday, September 26.

Overflow from the free visitor parking lot on the Fernwood Road side of the building will be sent to the new covered parking garage accessible from Rockledge Drive.

To access the garage from the visitor’s parking lot: turn right on Fernwood Road; turn right at the next traffic light (Rockledge Drive); and take the 3rd right. You will see the garage on your immediate right. This is the only access point with an attendant.

Do not park along the street between the garage and the Fernwood Building. You will be towed.

The new garage does not offer free visitor parking, and you will be asked to pay for parking at the following rates:

1 hour - $2.00
2 hours - $4.00
3 hours - $6.00
3+ hours - $8.00
Early Bird Rate: $5 flat rate if you are in the garage by 8:00 AM and over 2 hours.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and CIT is working with the leasing company to explore alternatives. Meanwhile, we recommend that NIH employees utilize the NIH Rockledge Shuttle from the Medical Center Metro to the Fernwood building, if at all possible, to avoid having to pay for parking. Exit the shuttle at the 6700B/Fernwood stop.

Driving Directions

From the NIH Campus

Take Old Georgetown Rd. North to Democracy Blvd. At Democracy, make a Left. Follow to 2nd traffic light at Fernwood Rd. Make a Right on Fernwood. Pass two traffic lights, and make a Right into the driveway immediately after the second light (10401 Fernwood Rd). Follow signs for visitor parking. Map. If full, follow directions above to the Parking Garage.

From Executive Blvd and Other Points North
